Are you driving while distracted?

Distracted driving is a growing cause of car accidents nationwide. Whether it’s on-the-go eating, putting on makeup or checking a text, distracted driving is a serious safety risk.

We’ve all driven a vehicle while distracted at one time or another, but the problem is growing in scope due to the wide array of electronic devices available today. While everyone knows the danger of texting while driving, you don’t need a cell phone in your hand to be a distracted driver. Research has found that using a hands-free device to talk on your cell phone while driving still reduces driver response time and makes it more likely you will be involved in an accident. Many people don’t realize that the growing number of high-tech features in cars today — navigation units and fancy stereos— are also being identified as contributing to more car accidents.

Take a few minutes to review this list of what constitutes distracted driving. These are activities that have been found to have caused accidents and even deaths. Share it with all of the drivers in your office.
